The Starry Path

Close now, your eyes, my dear old friend And slowly go to sleep For when you open them again The Starry Path you'll seek.

And up into the night you'll run And gallop over stars Into pastures all of cloud Restrained by neither gate nor bar.

The Starry Path you now must take And cross over to the land Where others just like you now run In a beautiful, ghostly band.

But please, old friend, I beg of you Don't leave that cloud-filled place Nor think you wait in vain Until the Starry Path I take To be with you again.
